BAHAWALPUR (Web Desk) – GOHER Foundation, in collaboration with the Umeed Jawan and SPADO, conducted a prize distribution ceremony for the young poets of Bahawalpur under the title of “Poetry Competition to Promote Peace and Tolerance in Bahawalpur” at local hotel.
The prize distribution ceremony was held for the three female and three male winner poets of poetry competition. Ali RazaTahir, from Islamia University Bahawalpur took first position, Fahad Ali from S.E College took second position, and MubashirJaved Khan from Post Graduate College took third position in the poetry competition. The female participantsHiraJaleel from Sadiq Women University, SadafZareen from Qaid-e-Azam Medical College, Zahra Aslam from Civil Servants Academy took first, second and third positions respectively.Those six winners were selected out of the 253 participants of the poetry competition.
“Creativity and poetry is food for the brain and its development in positive manner” said Allama Aon Saeedi.
A notable poet of Bahawalpur, Mr. AG Chohan started the ceremony by sharing some poetry on peace from his book of poetry, Dewan e Mohabbat. Scholars including Allama Aon Saeedi, Prof. Dr. Zahid Hassan, and Executive Director, SPADO, Mr.Raza Shah Khan, Regional Correspondent Dawn News, Mr. Majeed Gill,Ms. FarzanaKausar, PDO, Umeed Jawan addressed the audience. Later on, fifty young poets who were shortlisted from more than 250 participants of poetry competition shared their poetry of peace and tolerance on the event.
The heads and representatives of various educational institutes, notable poets, scholars, young poets, civil society and youth audience attended the ceremony. The audience prayed for a peaceful Pakistan and promised to play their part to bring peace in their society through such creative activities. At the end, shields, certificates and the prizes were distributed to the three male and three female winners. Certificates were distributed to all the participants of the poetry competition to encourage them for creative activities. The poetry of the winners will be published in the form of a booklet and calendars.
