Revocation of Indus Treaty to be taken as act of aggression: APC
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - All Parties Conference on Monday condemned India’s threat to use water as a weapon and warned that any unilateral revocation of Indus Waters Treaty shall be taken as an act of aggression.

The political leadership of the country from across the political spectrum met here at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif condemned the unprovoked Indian aggression, ceasefire violations and rejected Indian government’s claims that Kashmir was an integral part of India.

A Joint statement issued at the end of a meeting of the leaders of the Political and Parliamentary Parties here at the PM Office, called for coordinating on national security efforts, and urged reconstitution of the national security committee of the parliament.

The meeting took strong exception to stated intent by India to use water as a weapon against the people, not only of Pakistan but also of the region, in flagrant violation of its international treaty obligations.

The meeting said, “Any Indian attempt at unilateral revocation of Indus Waters Treaty shall be taken as an act of aggression.”

The APC condemned the killing of 110 innocent Kashmiries, including women and children, and blinding of over 700 people by use of pellet guns by the Indian forces in last 87 days.

Terming it a grave violation of human rights, and international humanitarian laws, the Joint Statement said the unprovoked Indian aggression and repeated ceasefire violations were a threat to regional peace and security.

“We reject Indian efforts to shift the focus from its brutal atrocities to suppress the indigenous uprising of the Kashmiri people for liberation from Indian occupation, to false claims of terrorism across the LoC,” the statement said.

The APC deploring the continued use of draconian laws against the Kashmiris and recurring curfews in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir said it had aggravated the miseries of the local population in clear violation of all international human rights conventions.

“All Parties Conference also reject as “ridiculous” the Indian government’s claims that Kashmir was an integral part of India”, the joint statement said.
