ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-N (PMLN), Mutihida Majlis Amal (MMA), ANP and other opposition parties have decided to field joint candidates for Prime Minister, Speaker and Deputy Speaker slots.

Addressing media Pakistan People’s Party’s Sherry Rehman told media that all the opposition parties have made a joint strategy. She said that opposition parties have rejected the rigged elections, however all have decided unanimously to sit in the parliament and fight for democracy.

She further said that it has also been decided to agitate inside and outside the parliament.

“We have formed a working committee that would formulate terms of references (ToRs) for fielding candidates for the prime minister, speaker and deputy speaker positions in the National Assembly,” Sherry added.

ANP leader Mian Iftikhar said that their policy is aggressive, not defensive, adding that “the like-minded parties would form the government and not the opposition”.

Sources said that a session of the Joint Action Committee would be held tonight and TORs will be formulated within three days.

The JAC will announce the TORs and decisions taken during the committee session.

Sources further said that on the day of prime minister’s oath-taking, the opposition parties will hold a rally in the capital near Red Zone.
