ISLAMABAD – Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali has refused to attend the Global Conference going to be held in India next month.

“The CJP was invited by his Indian counterpart to attend the conference to held on October 21 to 23”, Express Tribune reported on Friday.

Anwar Zaheer Jamali said in a letter wrote to the chief justice of Indian Supreme Court in present conditions he could not attend the meeting.

Apparently, Jamali has refused to visit India in light of prevailing circumstances between the two countries.

Earlier this week, India officially pulled out of the upcoming South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc) conference to be held in Islamabad.

Tensions have soared high between the two nuclear-armed neighbours over Occupied Kashmir and an attack on the Indian army’s brigade headquarters in Uri, which left 18 Indian soldiers dead.

Two Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom when Indian forces resorted to unprovoked firing across the Line of Control (LoC) on Thursday morning, the ISPR confirmed.

In retaliatory firing by Pakistani forces in response to Indian aggression at the Line of Control 14 Indian soldiers were killed, sources said on Thursday.
