RAWALPINDI - Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar, the former Inter- Services Intelligence (ISI) chief has requested for premature release due to some pressing personal commitments, said the sources.
Lt Gen Akhtar, who has also served as director general Rangers Sindh, is currently President of the National Defence University in Islamabad.

“I want everyone knowing me to respect my decision and not succumb or resort to speculation in any domain,” he was quoted as saying by sources in his resignation sent to army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. “I shall be available for any service in the army whenever needed.”
Rizwan further said that he has taken the decision with a “heavy heart but with great satisfaction” to “hang my uniform on 9th October 2017 after close to 35 years of dedicated active commissioned service”.
Former ISI chief added that he would like to place on record his sincere gratitude for all his seniors, comrades and staff, including his family, who had provided constant guidance to him throughout his long career.

He said it was a matter of great pride and honour for him to have served the army of this great nation.
He was commissioned in the Army’s Frontier Force Regiment in September 1982.

Euro comes down to 293 for buying and 296 for selling while British Pound stands at 342.25 for buying, and 345.65 for selling.
UAE Dirham AED was at 75.2 and Saudi Riyal's new rates was at 73.30.
