NEW DELHI (Staff Report) – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday thanked his Pakistani counter-part Nawaz Sharif over assistance in evacuation of stranded Indian citizens from war-torn Yemen.

Modi said “Thank you PM Nawaz Sharif for your humanitarian gesture,” at his twitter feed.

The Indian prime minister went on to say that service to humanity knows no borders and we are glad to help many other countries in evacuating their citizens from Yemen. India extended its help to neighbouring countries Bangladesh, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, he added.

Earlier 11 Indian nationals reached New Delhi through a special aircraft of Pakistan on the orders of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

These Indians were evacuated from Yemen by Pakistan Navy ship two days ago along with 134 Pakistanis and 28 other foreigners.
