Ist T20: Pakistan beat West Indies by 6 wickets

BRIDGETOWN - Pakistan defeated Twenty20 World Champions West Indies by six wickets at Kensington Oval on Sunday in the first match of the Brighto Paints presents Q Mobile Cup Twenty20 International series.

Sent into bat first, the host managed only 111 for eight in allotted 20 overs. In reply, Pakistan achieved the target in 17.1 overs with 115 for the loss of four wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the four-match series.

It was West Indies’ fourth successive defeat against Pakistan in the extra shorter form of the game after a 3-0 drubbing in the United Arab Emirates last September.

Score in brief:

West Indies 111-8 off 20 overs (Carlos Brathwaite 34 n.o., Chadwick Walton 18, Kieron Pollard 14, Jason Holder 14, Evin Lewis 10; Shadab Khan 3/7). Pakistan 111-4 off 17.1 overs (Shoaib Malik 38 n.o., Babar Azam 29, Kamran Akmal 22, Ahmed Shehzad 13; Jason Holder 2-27).

The match started at 12:30 PM (local) 4:30 PM (GMT) and 9:30 PM on (Pakistan Standard Time).

Teams:

West Indies: Evin Lewis, Chadwick Walton, Lendl Simmons, Marlon Samuels, Kieron Pollard, Carlos Brathwaite (captain), Jason Holder, Sunil Narine, Samuel Badree, Kesrick Wwilliams

Pakistan: Ahmed Shehzad, kamran Akmal, Babar Azam, Mohammad Hafeez, Sarfraz Ahmed (captain & wk), Shoaib Malik, Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Sohail Tanvir, Wahab Riaz, Hasan Ali.

Neither side have played a T20I since Pakistan beat West Indies 3-0 in the UAE last year. Both sides, however, are going through wretched runs of form, combining to win just two of their 17 games since then.
