‘Pakistan won today,’ says COAS Bajwa on successful PSL final in Karachi

ISLAMABAD – After successful conduct of PSL’s title decider match, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday said that nothing can defeat the passion of Pakistani citizens.

Major General Asif Ghafoor, Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) director general, shared the statement of the army chief on the official Twitter handle, saying: “Pakistan won today”.

The army chief congratulated the winning team of the PSL’s third edition, Islamabad United, on becoming the champion.

Islamabad United clinched their second PSL title after a thrilling three-wicket win over Peshawar Zalmi on Sunday night.

In reply to Peshawar Zalmi’s 148/9, United chased down the target in 18.5 overs.

Besides congratulating the team, the COAS praised the discipline showed off by the cricket fans in Karachi. He said, “Best of the day was excited yet very disciplined spectators of Karachi”.

Earlier, DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor says PSL Final has brought more glitters to Karachi, the ‘City of Lights’.

In a tweet, he thanked Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), foreign players, government administration, security apparatus and the resilient Pakistanis for this event.

The DG ISPR said terrorism imposed on Pakistan is on the way out and we are on the way to our rightful destination of enduring peace and stability.

With hosting the decade’s biggest match, the international cricket returns to the city of lights after a gap of almost nine years.
