PM Imran lauds outgoing Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua in farewell meeting
ISLAMABAD - Outgoing Foreign Secretary Ms. Tehmina Janjua Tuesday paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday.
A statement by the PM office said, the premier appreciated the meritorious services of Ms. Tehmina Janjua, who is retiring today.
Earlier, Ms Janjua interacted with the journalist community, at the ministry of foreign affairs. Her successor, Sohail Mahmood was also present on the occasion.
Janjua will be completing 35 years of her association with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today; she served at key positions during her stint.
Janjua holds the distinction of the first woman appointed to the Foreign Office's top slot. She had replaced Aizaz Chaudhry in 2017.
The outgoing official joined the Foreign Service in 1984 and has under her belt experience in multilateral diplomacy. She served as ambassador to Rome from December 2011 to October 2015 besides representing Pakistan at the United Nations in New York and Geneva.
Pakistan's High Commissioner to India Sohail Mahmood has been appointed to replace Janjua as the foreign secretary.
