Chairing the second All Parties Conference (APC) on CPEC, the premier said that political leaders reserve the right to bring their reservations forward which would be addressed.

He added that moving forward on national matters with unity will send a positive message to China, showing that Pakistan as a nation is committed to the project.

The premier also underscored that the corridor holds great importance in the history of Pakistan as such investments had not taken place in the past.

“China is a friend to Pakistan and supports us as a nation without focusing who is in power,” said Nawaz Sharif.

Separately, PM Nawaz congratulated Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah over the arrests of culprits behind the Safoora Goth incident in Karachi in which 47 people, belonging to the Ismaili community, were shot dead on May 13 in an armed attack on their bus.

The parliamentary leaders attending the meeting were also briefed by Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal regarding various routes of the CPEC project.

The APC had been convened to take the political leadership into confidence over the route of planned Economic Corridor between Pakistan and China.

The mega project is being dubbed as a fate changer not only for Pakistan but for the entire region. This project envisages construction of three alignments from Gwadar to Kashgar as well as establishment of energy projects and industrial zones all over the country.

The first meeting was held on the 13th of this month.

Co-Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is in Dubai and skipped the conference. However, a delegation of six members from PPP under leadership of Khursheed Shah including Aitizaz Ahsan, Sherry Rehman, Farhatullah Babar, Murad Ali Shah and Saleem Mandvi attended the conference.
