WASHINGTON – US Defence Secretary James Mattis appreciated the resilience of people of Pakistan and lauded the role of Pakistan Army in combatting terrorism, ISPR said in a press release.

According to Director General Inter Services Public Relations, Gen Bajwa had a 20-minute long telephonic conversation with Mattis during which military head felicitated Mattis on assuming the role as defence secretary.

Both exchanged views regarding the common goal of peace and stability in the region and to continue engagements at multiple levels.
Thursday’s conversation was the first formal contact between Pakistan’s military head and Trump administration.
