Will point fingers after thorough investigation of Charsadda attack: FO
ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) - The Foreign Office has said it will take action against terrorists and their facilitators involved in attack on Bacha Khan University in the light of complete investigation.

Qazi Khalilullah, Foreign Office Spokesperson said Thursday that the investigation was under way and will be completed shortly.

Speaking at the weekly briefing in Islamabad, Khalilullah said, “Pakistan strongly condemns the attack on Bacha Khan University in which at least 21 people lost their lives.”

He said it is too early to draw conclusions regarding who was behind the deadly attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda.

“It is premature to draw any conclusion as to who may be behind the Charsada university attack before investigations are complete,” Qazi said.

The spokesperson said Pakistan maintains contacts with the Afghan government at various levels to find a solution to different issues related to the security.

He said Pakistan desires peace in Afghanistan and the recent Heart of Asia conference in Islamabad was a big step in that direction.

"The meetings of four-nation group on Afghanistan will continue and all issues related to the reconciliation process involving the Afghan government and Taliban will be resolved within its framework".

To a question, Qazi Khalilullah said foreign-secretary level talks between Pakistan and India are going to be held in near future and both sides are in touch on that count.

Replying to a question, Qazi Khalilullah said there is positive response from both Saudi Arabia and Iran to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's initiative to defuse tension between the two countries.

He explained Pakistan is in touch with the two countries for the appointment of focal persons to advance process for easing tension.

He said Pakistan welcomes implementation of nuclear deal between Iran and six major world powers.

He said lifting of sanctions on Iran will help Pakistan promote economic and trade relations with Iran.

He said the government is in touch with the US authorities on several issues including Coalition Support Fund. Khalilullah said construction of north-south gas pipeline project is on top of the agenda of the petroleum minister during his visit to Russia.

At the outset of the briefing, fateha was offered for the martyred of Bacha Khan University.

Pakistani rupee rate against US Dollar, Euro, Pound, Riyal - Check 20 April forex rates

Pakistani currency remains marginally same against US Dollar and other currencies on April 20, 2024. US dollar was being quoted at 277.5 for buying and 280.5 for selling.

Euro comes down to 293 for buying and 296 for selling while British Pound stands at 342.25 for buying, and 345.65 for selling.

UAE Dirham AED was at 75.25 and Saudi Riyal's new rates was at 73.30.
