RAWALPINDI (Staff Report) – A Customs court in the garrison city of Pakistan has approved two surety bond of Rs1 million each submitted by fashion model Ayyan Ali in a money smuggling case. The court also ordered the relevant authority to release her passport.

Ayyan Ali appeared before Customs, Anti-Smuggling and Taxation Court Special Judge Rana Aftab Ahmed Khan along with her lawyer Sardar Khurram Latif Khosa to submit her surety bonds on Tuesday.

The court accepted the documents of personal guarantee, for which she had submitted Rs1 million and Rs2m surety bonds.

She had filed an application in the court, seeking return of her passport.

The custom officials had expressed reservations before the court, saying it is possible that if her passport was returned, the model would leave for a foreign country.

Accepting the plea, the court had directed the model to submit two surety bonds of Rs1 million each in return of her passport.

On Monday, the court refused to accept the surety bonds while raising legal objection over one surety bond.

A large numbers of her fans were already present there to have a glimpse of Ayyan Ali.

The supermodel expressed her pleasure and thanked the judiciary and media, adding that she respects the courts. She was optimistic she would get justice.

Ayyan expressed hope she would also win currency smuggling case.

Ayyan was arrested by Customs officials from Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, on March 14 after 506,800 dollars were recovered from her luggage.
