KARACHI (Web desk) – Sindh High Court (SHC) has adjourned hearing of model Ayyan Ali’s plea seeking removal of her name from Exit Control List (ECL).

The high court on Friday postponed hearing of cases across the board owing to death of a senior lawyer Akhtar Ali Mehmood.

Ayyan, who is facing currency smuggling charges, filed a petition with the SHC contending that her mother is seriously ill and for that matter she has to visit Dubai. The petition further stated that placing name on ECL is a violation of fundamental rights. It also violated the article 18 of the constitution, it added.

The SHC issued notices to federal interior ministry and in-charge of Jinnah International Airport, directing them to submit their replies by December 23.

It is pertinent to mention here customs officials had already handed Ayyan Ali’s passport back to her as per order of the customs court.
