Dropped from Shahrukh Khan's Raees, Mahira Khan to feature in Shoaib Mansoor's "Verna"

KARACHI - After having been dropped from Shahrukh Khan's upcoming film "Raees," Pakistani actress Mahira Khan has agreed to play a lead role in Shoaib Mansoor's much-awaited movie "Verna".

Khan appeared as a top female cast in "Raees," however, her name was dropped amid soaring Pak-India tensions.

In an interview with local media outlet, the actress said: "Shoaib sahab called me for this just like he had called me five years ago for Bol, wondering if I'd be interested in working with him. I was just happy to hear from him after so long."

"It's a film tackling a certain social issue... [I'm] taking it up as a challenge," she further added.

Media reports further suggested that Shoaib Mansoor plans to release "Verna" on the occasion of next Eid-ul-Fitr.

Earlier, Mahira Khan worked with Shoaib Mansoor in "Bol" movie. The director has also given other super hit films such as "Khuda Kay Liye."
