Fawad Khan was the director's first choice instead of Saif Ali Khan for this movie

NEW DELHI - Upcoming film Kaalakaandi's director Akshat Verma (Delhi Belly) recently revealed that Fawad Khan was his first choice to star in the lead role instead of Saif Ali Khan.

Akshat said, "Fawad was supposed to be one of the actors we talked to when the project was with UTV. It was around 2013… He was going to play the role Saif plays. But ultimately everything happens for a reason and for the best. No one could have done the role better than Saif."

Fawad Khan was first approached in 2013, but the movie kept slipping from one house to another, and eventually Saif Ali Khan got the lead role as Cinestaan took the movie from UTV.

‘Kaalakaandi’ is a dark thriller comedy, set to release on on January 12, 2018.
