No, we don't have to reduce Meghan Markle to the status of "a black divorcee" to prove a point

No, we don't have to reduce Meghan Markle to the status of
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding had everyone in awe. The much talked about wedding ceremony went down in all the glitz and glams of royalty. From the color of the bishop's skin to Markles Givenchy bridal dress, from Harry's smile at the altar to Queen's expressions, every angle, every detail was discussed.

We are grateful for all the details of wedding handed down to us by media and social media, but something bothered us. While talking about Harry and Markle's relation, one thing kept coming up constantly, 'Oh! Meghan is so lucky', 'Wow! Harry is so amazing, he is marrying a divorcee, a black/biracial woman.'

Everything and everyone pointed out towards the same thing, how lucky Meghan is and how "generous" Harry is for marrying her.

While we don't object to Harry's generosity and good will, Meghan isn't just a biracial and a divorcee. She is also a self-made woman, an accomplished actress, and an activist. She isn't just a black divorcee, she is an accomplished person in her own right, and to say that Harry is just marrying a black divorcee who isn't an amazing person in her own right is incredibly disingenuous.

Before meeting Harry, Markle was a counselor for international charity One Young World and advocated the topics of gender equality and modern day slavery. She has also traveled to Afghanistan and Spain as part of the United Service OrganizationsChairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Holiday Tour. In 2016, Markle became a global ambassador for World Vision Canada, traveling to Rwanda for the Clean Water Campaign, the agency's campaign to provide safe, clean drinking water. Also, it's worth mentioning that this beautiful woman was doing all this charity work while working hard on different acting projects.

So, why does everyone kept forgetting her philanthropic work, her profile and success as an actress and keeps focusing on trivial things such as the colour of her skin and her status as a divorcee to prove a point about desi weddings?
