ISLAMABAD – Chaudhry Nisar has reportedly turned down an offer to continue as the interior minister as newly elected Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has started consultation to form the new federal cabinet, local media reported.
According to media, the prime minister has reached Murree to meet party leadership, while Punjab Chief Minister will also attend the meeting.
It is expected that members of the former prime minister’s cabinet will be part of the new cabinet to be announced today by Abbasi. The cabinet will also take oath today which will be administered by President Mamnoon Hussain.
It also emerged on the media that the prime minister offered Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to continue as the interior minister, but he refused to accept it.
The previous federal cabinet was dissolved after the Supreme Court disqualified former prime minister Nawaz Sharif for concealing his job with FZE Capital on July 28.
It may be mentioned here that Chaudhry Nisar held a much-anticipated presser a day before Panama judgement in which he announced his decision to resign from the cabinet and National Assembly seat the day Supreme Court would announce the verdict whether it comes in favour or against Nawaz Sharif.
