CM Murad orders urgent shifting of anti-terrorism courts following threats

KARACHI - On Monday Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah ordered urgent shifting of anti-terrorism courts (ATCs) in Karachi from their present location in Clifton to Central Prison premises.

He was presiding over a meeting to review the current security situation in the province and the strategy adopted to deal with the same. The chief minister said no complacency will be tolerated nor will any risk be taken that would put the security of country on the line in any manner.

Mentioning that the decision to shift eight ATCs functional in the metropolis to Karachi Central Prison was taken during a previous meeting, he said concrete measures must be adopted for the same.

He also sought details of the steps being taken to comply with his orders related to security audit of 86 shrines located in the province.

Sindh Police IG A.D. Khowaja briefed him about the tightening of security arrangements in the province.

Provincial chief secretary, home secretary, advocate general and representatives of intelligence agencies and counter-terrorism departments attended the meeting.
