RAWALPINDI – A death-row prisoner, convicted of killing a person in 1996, was hanged to death in Rawalpindi Central Jail today.

The convict has killed Muhammad Shakil in Burk, an area of Gujar Khan in 1996. The jail administration said that a district court had announced a death sentence that was upheld by the Supreme Court.

The court had granted the convict’s family time to reconcile with the parents of the deceased, but it did not work out.

It is important to mention here that the President of Pakistan had also rejected the mercy appeal of the convict.
