Government, opposition to finalise ECP members appointments by July 25

ISLAMABAD - Government and the opposition have agreed to finalise the appointment process of the members of the Election Commission of Pakistan by July 25.

The understanding came at a meeting between Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Khursheed Shah in Islamabad.

During the meeting, several names for the provincial members of the Election Commission members came under consultation.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that the government is keenly pursuing the objective of economic growth and offered a number of incentives to different sectors to boost the economy.

In a statement, he directed officials of the Ministry of Finance to actively pursue implementation of new budgetary measures within the given timeline.

On the directions of Finance Minister, FBR will soon hold meetings with stakeholders regarding the modalities for determination of fair market value of immovable property.
