LAHORE: The name of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s son Hassan Nawaz is not listed in the entry of the Sharif family in the NADRA database.

Media reports suggest that while Kulsoom Nawaz, Maryam Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz are all listed under the Prime Minister’s family tree, the names of Hassan Nawaz and Asma Nawaz are not listed.

The data was apparently collected by sending the CNIC number of Nawaz Sharif to the National Database and Registration Authority’s (NADRA) free re-verification service. Any family can verify their identity information using an SMS service established by the Interior Ministry.

Earlier today, NADRA kicked off its countrywide campaign to re-verify the Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) of all Pakistanis.

Under this drive, the authority has also established a helpline capable of handling 10,000 calls per day.

It has also launched a reward scheme for information on fake identity card and passport holders.

The re-verification drive was announced earlier last month after evidence surfaced that former Taliban chief Mullah Akhtar Mansour had been using valid Pakistani identity and travels documents registered under a fake name to undertake travel abroad.
