LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif telephoned to Aitchison College Principal appreciating his merit policy after his grandson was refused admission to the college, instead of forcing a relaxation in the rules.

According to The Nation, Sharif’s grandson had failed to score merit for admission to the college, after which the chief minister was advised to use his authority to relax the rules, a step he refused to take.

Instead, Shahbaz Sharif personally phoned newly-appointed principal Michael Thomson and praised him for his effort to maintain merit.

The Nation report further claimed that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had done the same to promote the culture of merit when the grandson of his brother Mian Muhammad Abbas Sharif was denied admission to Aitchison College some two years ago.
