Junaid Jamshed's body identified, funeral arrangements underway

KARACHI - Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Mushtaq Ahmed on Monday said that body of Islamic scholar Junaid Jamshed has been identified through his facial X-ray and dental records.

According to Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Captain (retd) Mushtaq Ahmad Junaid's family has been informed about the development.

“Arrangements are now being finalised to hand over the coffin to the deceased’s family,” he said.

Meanwhile, Juniad Jamshed’s elder brother Humayun Jamshed  said that the funeral for the late pop icon-turned-preacher would be held at Moin Khan Academy in Defence area of Karachi on Thursday.

On the other hand, initial forensic report of the dead bodies in the air crash has been issued by the officials of Ayub Medical Complex that would help in identification of bodies. The report was prepared after autopsy of dead bodies.

Earlier on Monday, dead bodies of Nayha Junaid and Captain Saleh Janjua were handed over to the relatives after identification.

Junaid and his wife Nayha were among the 48 passengers who lost their lives when Islamabad-bound PIA jet PK-661 crashed near Havelian on 7 December, 2016.
