LAHORE – After ten years, local body government system restored in Punjab, as lord mayor and deputy mayors of Lahore on Saturday took oath.

The ceremony for oath taking was organised at Lahore Town Hall where Colonel (retd) Mubashir Javaid was sworn in as lord mayor, while deputy mayors also took oath.

A large amount of supporters of lord mayor and deputy mayors were present on the occasion. High-ranking officials including Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) and deputy commissioner of Lahore also attended the event.

Returning Officer (RO) Mehmood Masood administered oath to the lord mayor and deputy mayors. After the oath, the supporters chanted slogans in the hall and extended best wishes.


In other cities, the representatives of local body government will take oath shortly.
