According to a notification issued by Cabinet Division on Friday, Janjua has replaced Sartaj Aziz. In the meanwhile Sartaj Aziz will continue as prime minister’s adviser on Foreign Affairs.

Janjua maintains an excellent reputation as military officer for playing key role in eliminating the anti-state elements while working as Commander of Southern Corps in Balochistan.

He remained Commander of southern corps from August 31, 2013 and he remained on the position till retirement in September this year.

The decision of his appointment was made during his meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif last week.

Sources said that military leadership was not satisfied with the performance of Sartaj Aziz and by replacing him with Nasir Janjua Nawaz Sharif’s government has moved towards appeasing them.
