KARACHI (Web Desk) – A parliamentary meeting of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan on Friday unanimously decided that none of the party members would tender resignation on someone else’s demand.

Talking to newsmen, the senior MQM leader Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan clarified that even on ethical grounds no one could ask them to resign from their assembly seats since the party never supported terrorism.

“Whoever is found involved in a crime, MQM will raise its voice against that element,” Izhar said.

He said that the people of Pakistan, particularly in Karachi, gave Muttahida a clear mandate to them for chanting ‘Long Live Pakistan’.

Izhar said party MPAs were not thinking about leaving their positions in changing circumstances.

Shedding light on missing party leadership, the Muttahida representative told reporters that some 11 of MQM members were abroad and would join the party soon.

The senior MQM leaders also vowed to put party’s focus once again on the release of its arrested workers during their meeting today.

Regarding the resignation of another MQM leader Erum Farooqi, he said, she was still a member of the MQM Pakistan since the party leadership was yet to receive a formal letter of resignation on her behalf.

However, Erum Farooqi while talking to ARY News soon after Izhar-ul-Hassan’s press briefing confirmed that her resignation already rests with Dr Farooq Sattar.
