KARACHI (Staff Report) – An accountability court has handed over former minister Dr Asim Hussain to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on physical remand for 12 days in another case.

The NAB authorities told the court on Tuesday that they needed to interrogate Dr Asim over alleged corruption in welfare-related accounts and the others who were allegedly involved in the corruption still have to be arrested.

Therefore, the accused be handed over to NAB on physical remand for 14 days, the NAB officials prayed to the court.

The accountability court, while accepting the plea, handed over Dr Asim on 12 days physical remand to NAB.

Besides the cases of corruption, forgery and land-grabbing, the former petroleum minister, who is close to PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari, has also been facing a terror facilitation case.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) mayoral candidate Waseem Akhtar, Anees Qaimkhani and Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Abdul Qadir Patel are among other ‘fugitives’ in Dr Asim Hussain’s case.
