NAB to file three corruption references
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to file three corruption references.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the bureau's Executive Board chaired by its Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry in Islamabad on Thursday.

A corruption reference will be lodged against former Water and Power Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and others for alleged abuse of authority by signing contracts without approval of Northern Power Generation Company Limited and without approval of tariff from NEPRA in violation of NEPRA rules.

The Bureau decided to file reference against former Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon for alleged subversion in the provincial Information Department by creating fake bills at exorbitant rates.

The third corruption reference will be filed against Vice Chancellor Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan Dr Ihsan Ali, and others for alleged abuse of authority in making illegal appointments of ineligible candidates.

The Bureau also decided to authorize six investigations.

It decided to close inquiry against Neelum Jhelum Project on the issue of Procurement of Tunnel Boring Machine in the project and complaint verification against Karachi Port Trust officials due to lack of incriminating evidence.
