Nawaz Sharif's disqualification on unjustified grounds damaged Pakistan, says AJK PM
LONDON -  Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider said on Wednesday that the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif was based on weak and unjustified grounds of Iqama (work permit) which damaged Pakistan.

Talking to newsmen in London, he claimed that Nawaz’s disqualification had been rejected by Kashmiris citing that the ouster had nothing to do with accountability.

The premier said that the case against Nawaz started on the basis of Panama but ended up on Iqama because no evidence of any kind of wrongdoing in public office was found against the PML-N leader.

Farooq said that the disqualification has made Nawaz Sharif more popular because he was punished to settle political scores.

He continued that Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification has weakened Pakistan’s case at the international level because it has given an impression that a popularly elected leader can be thrown out through courts in a 'political chess game'.

"It's obvious that Nawaz was disqualified in hurry and is now being victimised through a media slandering campaign and witch-hunt through National Accountability courts," he claimed.

It is relevant to mention that the AJK prime minister is visiting European capitals flanked by senior minister Tariq Farooq to apprise them about the human rights violations of Kashmiris by Indian occupation forces.

“We are meeting European parliamentarians and think-tanks for a week to inform them about the heinous crimes India is committing. There’s evidence that India is involved in crimes against humanity,” he detailed.

The writer is a civil servant.
