ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – There was no major breakthrough in Pak-India ties in recent meeting of foreign secretaries of two countries, however Pakistan has conveyed its reservations to the Indian side effectively, said Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry.

While briefing newsmen about his India visit in Islamabad, he said that a sustained and structured engagement is imperative for resolving the outstanding issues between Pakistan and India.

The Foreign Secretary said he highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to resolve all outstanding issues between the two countries including Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

The Foreign Secretary said he also raised with his Indian counterpart the issue of apprehended RAW agent Kulbushan Yadev and his involvement in subversive activities in Karachi and Balochistan.

Pakistan called for fair investigation and trial of the Samjhauta Express terrorist attack and also expressed concern over recent news items regarding efforts being made to exonerate some of the individuals who were responsible for the attack.

The Foreign Secretary said both sides stressed the need to facilitate the people to people exchanges including religious tourism.

Aizaz Chaudhry said during Heart of Asia meeting, Pakistan delegation highlighted the positive role being played by Islamabad in efforts for bringing long term peace and stability to Afghanistan.

Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to continued close engagement with Afghanistan.
