'Pakistan concerned about Saudi Arabia-Iran tension'
ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) - The special adviser to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz Tuesday said that Islamabad was deeply concerned about recent widening gap between Riyadh and Tehran.

Giving a policy statement in the National Assembly, Aziz said that it was not first time when Saudi Arabia and Iran both cut off their bilateral diplomatic ties however the development in current situation may help terrorists instigate sectarian fire among Muslims.

"The unity of Muslim Ummah was in serious danger in such a situation and Pakistan being a member of OIC and and active Muslim country was ready to play role in bridging the difference between two key Muslim states," he went on to say.

He said that major world powers including United States and China have also urged the two countries to engage themselves in diplomatic dialogues to discuss all outstanding issues.

Pakistan has strongly condemned the attack on Saudi Arabian embassy in Iran as the protection of diplomatic missions remains a responsibility of host countries worldwide, he informed lower house of parliament.
