Pushto singer accuses teen brother of raping her two daughters

RAWALPINDI - Police in Punjab have arrested a teenage boy after he was accused of raping his two minor nieces, the daughters of a popular Pushto singer.

Iftikhar, the 19-year-old brother of Nazia Iqbal, was arrested on Wednesday after she registered a case against him in Rawat Police Station.

In her complaint, the singer alleged that her brother repeatedly raped her daughters, 12 and 8, while she and her husband were away for concerts.

Nazia claimed that she used to ask Iftikhar to stay at her residence in Rawalpindi's Bahria Town to take care of her daughters while she was away. Instead, he used to rape them and scare them into silence, she maintained.

The singer further claimed that she caught her brother red-handed while abusing one of her daughters in her room on Tuesday and then decided to register the case.



Police say the medical reports have been sent to the Punjab Forensic Lab in Lahore, while further investigations are underway.

Nazia Iqbal is one of the prominent singers of Pakistan and is particularly famous for her Pashto songs although she sings in other local languages including Urdu. She has millions of fans across Pakistan as well as Afghanistan and the Middle Eastern countries.
