QUETTA – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday chaired a high-level civil-military meeting to thrash out a decisive policy against terrorism and extremism and review law and order situation after terrorist attack on Police Training Centre in Quetta.

Prime Minister, who following the deadliest attack on police training centre, visited Quetta, is chairing a meeting in Governor house, Balochistan.

During the meeting, various aspects of the deadly terrorist attack on PTC were discussed. The participants of the meeting also discussed the prevailing law and order situation in Balochistan especially in provincial metropolis Quetta.

The meeting was attended by civil-military high-ups including COAS General Raheel Sharif, interior minister, General Janjua, DG ISI lt General Rizwan Akhtar, and Chief minister of Balochistan.

The civil-military leadership had been alarmed following the attack on police training centre in Quetta that claimed the lives of 60 people.

Senior military and intelligence officers are also accompanying COAS during Quetta visit. The COAS visit at the critical time is important as he would be holding sensitive meetings in the aftermath of deadly Quetta carnage.

A few of the defence analyst are of the view that the nexus of intelligence agencies of Pakistan’s neighbours could be behind the nefarious carnage aimed to destabilise Pakistan.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif late Monday night strongly condemned the attack on Police Training Center in Quetta and directed the federal and provincial authorities to bring the perpetrators to task as soon as possible.

According to a press statement, PM Nawaz expressed concerns over the attack and directed the federal and provincial security agencies to bring the perpetrators to task.

PM directed the interior ministry and Balochistan government to keep him informed on the developments of the incident.
