LAHORE – Former Federal Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan has joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The Pakistan People’s Party leader made formal announcement on Tuesday after meeting with PTI Chairman Imran Khan in Nathia Gali, Murree.

Earlier, she met PTI leader Jehangir Khan Tareen.

Awan, along with her husband, was a staunch supporter of the PPP until party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari consolidated his control over the party.

Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan was born on January 11, 1970. She was elected from NA-111, Sialkot –II, by defeating Chaudhry Ameer Hussain, former National Assembly Speaker.

She served as federal minister for National Regulation and Services in the cabinet of Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.
