Pregnant woman dies while doctor allegedly attends 'PTI meeting'

DERA GHAZI KHAN - A pregnant woman and her unborn child died at a private hospital in District Rajanpur as the doctor allegedly remained busy attending a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf meeting, according to the bereaved family members.

Allah Noor, a resident of Tehsil Fazil Pur told Geo News that he took his wife to the hospital Thursday evening, where the medics kept her on a waiting list. He said the hospital staff assured them the woman and the unborn child were fine, while the doctor, Shaheena Najib, allegedly attended a PTI meeting.

The bereaved family members said they paid Rs40,000 for the medical treatment at the time of admitting the woman, however, the doctor's negligence killed the woman and her unborn child.

The hospital administration and Dr Shaheena Najib have refused to comment on the matter. But the family members have demanded the Punjab government to take stern action against the doctor.
