Two dead, five injured in blast near Balochistan University in Quetta

QUETTA (Staff Report) - At least two people died while another five were left severely injured when a powerful blast took place at Saryab road in Quetta near the Balochistan University campus.

Security forces and rescue teams reached the area immediately after the blast. The area has been cordoned off and all of the injured have been shifted to hospital.

The main target of the explosion was a police check post near Balochistan University's main entrance. All of those killed and injured in the blast belonged to the Balochistan Police.

According hospital administration, at least two of the injured are in critical condition.

A search operation was initiated in the surrounding area after blast, which has been cordoned off from the public. The nature of the blast is yet to be ascertained.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast.
