Uzair Baloch's aide Mulla Nisar held near Pak-Iran border: Sources
KARACHI - Notorious Lyari gangster, Mulla Nisar, considered the right-hand man of Lyari gang war commander  Uzair Baloch, was arrested during a search operation near the Pak-Iran border, sources said on Friday.

According to unconfirmed reports, Nisar was injured in a shootout with the security forces while they were conducting a search operation in the area.

Nisar was a gang commander in Lyari’s Kalakot area and is wanted in over 50 cases of murder, attempt to murder, rocket and grenade attacks, extortion, kidnapping for ransom and narcotics. Nisar is involved in various crimes but drug peddling is his main business.

He also faces charges of attacking cops and police stations and has a Rs2 million bounty on his head, Express Tribune reported.

According to sources, Nisar was earlier associated with Lyari gang leader Rehman Dakait. When Dakait was killed by the Karachi police in 2009, he started working with his successor, Uzair Baloch.

Like other Lyari gang commanders, Nisar too had left Karachi after a crackdown against criminals was launched in the city.

When contacted, the authorities in Karachi said they could not confirm Nisar’s arrest.

Earlier, the Pakistan Army had taken custody of banned People’s Amn Committee chief Uzair Baloch, who was arrested by Rangers on the outskirts of Karachi on January 30, 2016.

A joint investigation team formed to probe into the case in May 2016 had recommended that Baloch be tried by a military court for ‘espionage’.

Reportedly, Uzair Baloch also confessed to having links with Iranian and Indian spy agencies and most importantly Kalbushan Yadhav, a RAW agent nabbed by law enforcers in Pakistan.
