Younus Khan quits Pakistan Cup over umpiring row

FAISALABAD (Web Desk) - Pakistan Test veteran Younus Khan left the on-going Pakistan Cup midway after he was sent a notice for criticising umpiring standards after both matches of Khyber Pakhtunkhwah’s team.

The 38-year-old, who captained Pakistan to their sole World T20 title, was critical of the umpiring decisions after KP were beaten by Islamabad in their first match of the tournament. He once again complained about umpiring after KP beat Punjab in the fourth match of the tournament by just two runs.

Younus, after the second match, threatened the reserve umpire Rashid Riaz to raise their standards of decision delivery. Rashid took his complain to the match referee Azizur Rehman forwarded a notice to Younus.

Younus, then, left the tournament in protest. Pakistan right-hand opener Ahmed Shehzad is now going to lead the KP side.
