'Azhar Ali had resigned as ODI skipper but he will continue now'

LAHORE (Staff Report) - Although ODI captain Azhar Ali and Muhammad Hafeez have joined training camp in Gaddafi Stadium in presence of pacer Muhammad Amir following a controversy over third's return in camp, but apparently the matter has not been fully resolved.

According to media reports Azhar Ali tendered his resignation as ODI skipper in a meeting with PCB chairman Shahryar Khan saying that he was not suitable to lead the team after the recent issue with Muhammad Amir. However PCB chairman refused to accept the resignation and asked him continue as skipper.

At which Azhar Ali Tuesday informed Shahryar Khan that he was ready to continue as PDI skipper, Geo News said while quoted unnamed sources.

On the other hand Muhammad Hafeez is still of the opinion that corrupt cricketers must not be allowed play for Pakistan once again. He termed his stance as principled rather than targeted towards any person.

Muhammad Hafeez had also participated in the camp along with Muhammad Amir on Monday.
