The announcement was made by Lahore Qalandars’ director cricket operation Aaqib Javed disclosing that Kiwi player would also mentor juniors.

The former fast bowler, while addressing a press conference, said the decision to remove Azhar Ali from captaincy will not mar his ability to lead the national side since he does not represent Pakistan in the T20 format.

Aqib clarified that Azhar Ali would still be  apart of Lahore Qalandar’s team.

Lahore Qalandars also announced this decision on twitter with a video message from McCullum.

It is pertinent to mention that Lahore Qalandars performance in last tournament was poor as the team managed to win two games out of their eight under Azhar’s captaincy.
