Imran Khan joins PSL as Peshawar Zalmi mentor

PESHAWAR (News Desk) - The Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi Wednesday said that legendary cricketer Imran Khan, who won World Cup for Pakistan in 1992, has joined his franchise to guide players through his vision as "he is the great cricketer ever produced in Pakistan or even the whole world."

According to media reports, Afridi went on to say that word Zalmi means youth in Pashtu and where can the youngsters look for inspiration other than great Imran Khan.

He further added that Imran Khan is a bust personality and obviously he will not be available with us all the time but still he will guide us on several matters.

Ruling out the perception that Imran Khan never played T20 format of cricket himself then how can he be mentor for a T20 league, the Zalmi's owner said that Imran Khan is someone who transformed cricketing culture in Pakistan by inspiring a large number young cricketers.

Peshawar Zalmi is one of the five franchises of Pakistan Super League (PSL) which picked Shahid Afridi as skipper while other leading players included Umar Gul, Imran Khan Jr, Darren Sammy, Wahab Riaz, Junaid Khan, Muhammad Hafeez and Tamim Iqbal.

The first edition of PSL is scheduled in Dubai from February 4 to 24, 2016.
