Kohli adds another feather to his cap after scoring a double century in four consecutive series

HYDERABAD - Indian skipper Virat Kohli became the first batsman in Test history to score a double century in four consecutive series on Friday after he smashed 204 against Bangladesh.

The 28-year-old skipper went past legends including Australia's Donald Bradman and his compatriot Rahul Dravid, both of whom compiled double tons in three consecutive series.

Kohli had also scored double centuries in his three most recent series against West Indies, New Zealand and England before reaching the 200-run mark in the ongoing one-off Test in Hyderabad. Kohli, who shared a 222-run fourth-wicket stand with Ajinkya Rahane, hit 24 boundaries during his 246-ball knock against a hapless Bangladesh attack.

During his innings, Kohli also registered the most Test runs in a home season, breaking Virender Sehwag's previous record of 1,105 in 17 innings.

He was finally trapped lbw off Bangladesh spinner Taijul Islam and walked off to a standing ovation from a raucous home crowd. Kohli also became the third batsman to score a double-century at Hyderabad's Uppal Stadium after New Zealand's Brendon McCullum (225) and teammate Cheteshwar Pujara (201). He averages over 50 in 54 Test matches with 16 hundred and 14 half centuries.

His highest score remains the 235 in the Mumbai Test against England last year.-APP
