CHRISTCHURCH (Staff Report) – Martin Guptill has registered New Zealand’s fastest fifty runs record in his name after he scored 50 off 17 balls only, just missing the world’s fastest fifty record.

In second ODI game against Sri Lanka Guptill smashed four sixes and five fours in 50 runs while unbeaten on 93 not out off 30 balls.

Guptill hammered 9 fours and 8 sixes in his remarkable innings which resulted in Sri Lanka’s loss by ten wickets.

The world’s fastest fifty record is currently held by South Africa’s AB de Villiers who scored 50 runs off 16 balls only.
