U-19 World Cup 2018: India thrash Pakistan by 203 runs in semifinal

CHRISTCHURCH - India on Tuesday beaten Pakistan by 203 runs in the second U-19 World Cup semi-final match, being played at Christchurch’s Hagley Oval cricket ground.

Winning the toss, India chose to bat first and determinedly scored run after run despite Pakistani bowlers' persistent attempt at taking wickets. India set a target of 273 runs for Green Shirts.

However, Pakistan could make mere 69 runs off 21 overs and faced the heaviest defeat in terms of runs in the semi-final.

Shubman Gill remained 'not out' at 102 runs, while Manjot Kalra and Prithvi Shaw scored 47 runs and 41 runs, respectively, in the stipulated overs.

Muhammad Musa sent Shiva Singh off the pitch after the latter had only managed to bag a run. Arshad Iqbal took three wickets against 51 runs while Musa took four against 67. Shaheen Afridi, on the other hand, only took one wicket.

During run-chase, Pakistani batsmen came back o pavilion one after another. Rohail Nazeer was the top scorer with 18 runs.
