Pakistan's Mohammad Hafeez retires from Test cricket

DUBAI – Pakistan's star all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez on Tuesday announced he will retire from Test cricket after the ongoing match against New Zealand at Abu Dhabi.

The 38-year-old made a comeback to the Test side against Australia in October and since his hundred on return, he has accumulated 66 runs in his last seven innings.

"I feel time is up," said Hafeez. "I am announcing my retirement and feel happy that I worked hard in my career."

The Sargodha-born cricketer has informed the selectors that he wants to focus on his limited-overs career.

Hafeez played 54 Test matches and made 3,644 runs with an average of 38.35. He has 10 centuries and 12 half-centuries  under his belt.
