KARACHI – A four-day PIA Training Centre (PTC) Sports Gala was inaugurated by CEO PIA, Bernd Hildenbrand on Tuesday. The event will conclude on February 10.

Students of Aerospace Engineering and Avionics, studying at PTC, are taking part in various indoor and outdoor games including cricket, football, snooker, table tennis, tug of war and badminton.

The students have been divided into five houses — Boeing Gladiators, Airbus Spartans, Antonov Thunders, Rolls Royce Phantoms and Bombardier Titans. Another feature of this sports gala is career counselling facility being provided to the students, giving them guidance on careers in the aviation industry.

Speaking on this occasion, Hildenbrand said that team sports means to stand for colleagues and join hands for a united cause. He said sports keep one mentally and physically strong and healthy while making them good team members and communicators.

“Through sports, we learn an important lesson that in order to succeed, all team members must move in one direction in a united and disciplined manner.” He said a healthy body provides a strong basis for a successful career. He wished the competing students the best of luck in this event.

The ceremony was attended by PIA Directors, General Managers, PTC faculty members and students of the training institute.-Online
