CALIFORNIA – A decade after the first iPhone was launched, Apple on Tuesday introduced the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus along with the Watch Series 3 and a big upgrade to the Apple TV.

iPhone X comes with a near bezel-less edge-to-edge screen and skips the home button on the front. So, users will need to tap on the side button to wake up Siri. For biometric authentication, the smartphone relies on the facial recognition. The phone was launched at the tech giant’s much anticipated event at their headquarters in Cupertino, California, on Tuesday.

Apple claims the facial recognition on the iPhone X can identify the face in dark or even when owner has different hairstyle or look as well. The technology is based on built-in neural engine on Apple’s A11 Bionic chipset. Apple says that the facial recognition cannot be spoofed by using a photograph or even a mask. The facial recognition technology can also be used for payment authentication. Users can also access home screen by just swiping up on the screen.

The two other models, expected to be called the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, are intended to update the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Apple iPhone X: Features, Specifications:

Just like the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, the iPhone X comes with ‘all glass’ design. It comes with an OLED edge-to-edge ‘Super Retina’ display, making it first-ever iPhone to come with a near bezel-less display. The smartphone runs on Apple’s latest A11 Bionic chipset, which is said to be much faster and battery efficient.

The iPhone X comes with 12-megapixel dual cameras with dual optical image stabilisation. It comes with Quad-LED True Tone LED flash. The smartphone also supports the Portrait Beta that allows different light effects on photos taken through portrait mode. The front camera on the iPhone X is also capable of taking portrait modes. It comes in 64GB and 256GB storage options.

Apple iPhone X: Price, Availability:

Prices of the iPhone X start $999. The smartphone will be up for pre-order from October 27 and will hit the shelves on November 3.
