Did you think ALS ice bucket challenge was a waste of time? Think again

LAHORE - The ALS ice bucket challenge, which was started in 2014 and aimed to promote awareness about Lou Gehrig's Disease,has started producing results.

According to media reports, using the funds, Project MinE has been able to sequence the genomes of over 15,000 patients of the amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) disease and has discovered the NEK1 gene - which causes a major increase to the ALS disease.

Now after this discovery, the researchers are focusing on the development of a therapy which could possibly treat the people with this disease

The organisers of the ice bucket challenge are bringing another campaign in this month. All of the collected money will go to the further research to find a cure for the Lou Gehrig's Disease.
