Dr Bhavya Kumar has examined Aliya Saleem. He believes she could be suffering from Prader-Willi Syndrome, which is marked by overeating.

Kumar told Barcroft Media, “There could be some hormonal imbalance, there could [be] some metabolic disease. There can be genetic causes.

So, I strongly suspect that this could be a case of some genetic disorder, most probably Prader-Willi Syndrome, which is a very rare disorder.”

Parents Shabnam Parveen and Mohammad Saleem have a 5-year-old son of normal weight.
Their daughter eats about three times as much as a child of her age, making it hard for the couple to make ends meet.
Father earns $3 a day as a tailor.

“We spend all our money to feed Aliya,” her mom said. “If we do not give her something to eat, she cries endlessly and gets cranky.”

And then there’s the cost of baby clothes — which don’t last long.

“Her constant hunger leads to excessive weight gain due to which we have to buy new sets of clothes every two weeks that takes a toll on our limited expenses,” the mom said.
